Hurricane Relief Center Information

So many have responded asking how our congregation is involved and how they can help. Thank you, thank you for the outpouring of kindness, love and generosity.

At this time there is a need for supplies such as: water, baby diapers & formula, toys and games, underwear, socks, flip-flops, rubber boots, bug spray, tarps, plastic cap nails, generators, box fans, non-perishable food, charcoal, shovels and brooms, work gloves, rubber gloves, chain saws, gas cans, toilet tissue, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc. (We will add or delete items on this web site as we receive them or find new needs)

We have 2 warehouses and workers. One is very close to New Orleans with security provided. We must get clearance in advance to get trucks through. If you plan to send supplies, we will need to know the size truck, how the supplies are packaged, etc. If you are sending supplies, call Mike Reeves to arrange for delivery at 225-927-4673. He has an email address specifically for those prepared to ship goods; shockwave@cox.net.

Any contributions can be made to South Baton Rouge Church of Christ. Mark the check for Diaster Relief. Mail to:

South Baton Rouge Church of Christ
c/o Blaine Tucker
8725 Jefferson Highway
Baton Rouge, LA 70809.

We will do the best we can to use all donations to meet the needs of those suffering at this time. The number of people with emergency needs is great.

If you would like to send workers, we can receive 8-10 people at one time. If you can come Monday through Thursday, please contact Blaine Tucker at 225-927-HOPE (4673) or email him at blainetucker@gmail.com to schedule. In the future, when people are allowed back into the devastated areas and more of the rescuees are no longer in our homes and shelter; we will welcome and need more workers. Right now in Baton Rouge, it is very similar to when Jesus was born in Bethlehem, it is difficult to find a place to sleep and basic necessities.

We are running a shelter housing and feeding about 50 people and are assisting them locate other housing. So far, as one family leaves another is brought to the shelter.

If clothes are sent, they must be boxed with item, gender, and size: example: “Pants Boys Size 10”.

We have never experienced anything like this; please pray for the victims and those serving them.
