I know I don't really "blog" politically here, but I want to make sure that everyone watching the scenes of this devastation around the country know something very important: Louisiana Governor Blanco is using this time to play partisan politics.
Why did relief take so long getting here? Because this deluded and self-important woman refused to let the Federal agencies take control of the national guard. Instead of using the avenues that had already been set up to handle these situations, she chose to bring in a former Clinton admiistration official to help run these operations.
Don't let the irony of this escape you, please: The last Governor's race in Louisiana was incredibly close, with (now US Rep.) Bobby Jindal leading until Orleans parish was counted. NOTE THIS: The very people who gave this pathetic leader the office of Governor were the ones she let dehydrate, starve, and roast on rooftops and in diseased waters because she didn't want to hand over control of the National Guard so they could rescue people.
Everyone is calling for the heads of FEMA officials, and but few know that they could do little until deluded control-freak partisan-crazed governor allowed them to. Did you watch the reporters standing among stranded evacuees saying they didn't know who was in charge? Did you hear everyone say they couldn't figure out where the National Guard was? Did you hear reports of military and officials at the ready, just WAITING for people to help but with no orders, requests, or directions?
When we do finally discover what the death toll is here, don't forget: Kathleen Blanco is singlehandedly responsible for many of those deaths because she was incapable of leading her state, but would not let anyone else help.
Remember that.
