Will..."making" friends

Ben and I keep saying that we need to write these things down that he does, so I'm thinking I'll try and record some here...Anyway, he started a new playgroup today -- it's a playgroup that's sort of like a "preschool" type set-up where I drop him off and then pick him up when it's done and they learn things...just not, like, structured like a "real" preschool. I chose this because I've realized that it doesn't matter where I send him or what I tell the teacher, if he is in a preschool here, they will be teaching them ABCs and other things that he has known, literally, since he was two. So I decided I'd keep doing his reading, writing, math, etc. stuff at home but that he needed an outlet to play and be around other kids.

So anyway, I picked him up today and he's talking a mile a minute about stuff they did.

So I stop him and I say, "Will, did you make any new friends today?"

He looks at me a little funny and says, "No."

I was surprised, so I asked him again, "Will, you didn't find any friends?"

He says, "Oh, yes. Mommy, I have friends there, but I didn't create them."

Yeah. He thought that when I said, "Did you make any friends," I was asking him if he fabricated them from nothing. I was totally surprised, though, at how well he explained himself using the word "create" so emphatically. He amazes me!
