Yay! We know what we're doing for Kindergarten!

I am so pleased to report that Will tested into Runnels, a private school here in Baton Rouge that I have thought was awesome ever since we moved here and I started learning about the different schools. They're an a excellent academic school, and they have a focus on the arts built into their mission. When Ben and I visited the school, we were just so impressed. Classes are no larger than 18 kids for ANY grade, even through high school. The atmosphere was just tremendous -- there was such a sense of respect for the kids and the kids showed respect to the faculty and staff. There is a computer for every kindergarten student so no one has to share when they're in the lab. And I in particular love this part -- creative writing is a core course in the curriculum up until 4th grade. The school's founders believe that building creative writing skills is important to help students develop into better writers in general, and I couldn't agree more! They start band or orchestra in the 4th grade, and they can start pre-algebra in the 6th grade. They have a bevy of AP courses in high school, and they offer classes like ballet, psychology, environmental science, Latin (through AP), and of course things like AP Calculus, physics, biology, English, Chemistry, etc.

We're happy, and we are sooooo grateful to our parents (both sets) for making this possible! Will is happy -- he liked it so much when he visited.

We also have moved him into a new preschool, and he is doing great. It is a better fit for him academically and also socially. Adelaide is doing great, too -- she's hungry all the time, though! She's five months and keeping us very busy. Both kids are, in fact!!!
